Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
SpecLeft is lead by Richard Kakengi in the UK, with contriubtions to the CLI from the open source community. This policy explains what data we collect and how we handle it in plain language.
What we collect
When you contact us or join the waitlist, we may collect:
- Your name and email address
- Company name (if provided)
- Which AI agent tools you use (if provided)
- The content of your message
We also use PostHog to understand how visitors use specleft.dev, including page views, referral sources, and conversion to the waitlist. PostHog may use cookies for this purpose. We do not track you across other sites and we do not use tracking pixels.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your inquiry
- To communicate with you about SpecLeft and product updates
- To understand which agent frameworks our users work with, so we can prioritize development
- To analyze how visitors use specleft.dev, so we can improve the site and measure which content is useful
Legal basis (GDPR)
- Legitimate interest: when you contact us directly, we process your data to respond and have a conversation. We also use analytics to understand how our site is used and improve it.
- Consent: when you join the waitlist, you are opting in to hear from us. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
Who sees your data
Just Richard. We do not sell, share, or feed your data into any CRM, analytics platform, or third-party marketing tool.
We use Resend as our email and form processing service, and PostHog for website analytics. Both act as data processors and may process data in the United States. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it. If you email us asking to be removed, we will do it and confirm within 7 days.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the ICO if you believe we have mishandled your data
The SpecLeft CLI
The open-source SpecLeft CLI collects zero telemetry. Your code, specs, and test results never leave your machine. This is by design. The website analytics described above apply only to specleft.dev, never to the CLI or your development environment.
Open-source license
SpecLeft CLI is available under the Apache 2.0 License.
